To effectively manage taxes in RoomRaccoon, it's essential to configure both your tax rules and their association with the appropriate ledgers. Follow these steps to ensure accurate financial reporting:

Setting Up Your Taxes

  1. Access Account Settings:

    • Click on the orange settings gear icon located in the bottom left corner of the dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Tax Rules:

    • Within Account Settings, select the "Tax Rules" section.

  3. Define Tax Specifics:

    • Enter the details for each tax applicable to your property, such as state tax, local tax, or hotel sales tax.

  4. Assign Tax Categories and Calculation Basis:

    • Choose the categories (e.g., accommodation, add-ons) to which each tax applies.

    • Decide whether the tax should be calculated over the net or gross value.

Associating Taxes with Ledgers

After setting up your taxes, it's crucial to link them to the appropriate ledgers to ensure accurate financial tracking:

  1. Navigate to the Finance Module:

    • Click on the "Finance" module on the left side of your screen.

  2. Access the Ledgers Tab:

    • Within the Finance module, select the "Ledgers" tab at the top.

  3. Select the Relevant Ledger:

    • Choose the ledger corresponding to the revenue type (e.g., accommodation, food and beverages) to which the taxes apply.

  4. Configure Applicable Taxes:

    • Click on "Applicable Taxes" within the selected ledger.

    • Select the taxes that are applicable to that ledger.

  5. Save Changes:

    • Click "Save" to apply the tax settings to the ledger.

Important Note

If an add-on has a ledger assigned, do not apply a tax rule directly to that add-on. Instead, ensure that the ledger associated with the add-on has the correct tax rules configured. This approach maintains consistency and accuracy in your financial reports.

By meticulously setting up your taxes and associating them with the correct ledgers, you ensure that RoomRaccoon's financial reports accurately reflect your property's tax obligations.
