Add-ons are a great way to increase revenue for your accommodation. As the name suggests, you and your guests can add extra charges to a booking.
Types of add-ons
Simple add-ons
Simple add-ons are general add-ons such as late check-out, bottle of champagne, extra bed etc.
Add-ons without a charge
On RoomRaccoon you may add a free add-on that guests can book in advance. These include gluten free meals or single beds - these are add-ons hoteliers usually do not charge for but are useful to know in advance to arrange for the guests.
Add-ons charged per night
If you set up an add-on to be charged per night, RoomRaccoon will automatically adjust the price according to the length of stay of your guests. Good examples of add-ons that usually are charged per night are baby beds or an extra bed.
Add-ons charged per person
You can also make the price of an add-on dependent on the number of guests—for example, offering bike rental. If the booking is made for two guests, RoomRaccoon will know that there should be two bikes added to the final invoice.
Add-ons charged per stay
These are usually add-ons that are mandatory to the guest’s stay such as cleaning fee or bed linen. This add-on is usually added to the booking price and can be added as a package rate. See more on package rates here.
Important add-ons
You can mark an add-on as important which visually highlights the add-on in your agenda. This is a very useful feature for booked add-ons that require some kind of action from you such as chilling champagne in the fridge before guest arrival.
Add-ons that you cannot book in advance
Mini bar items are items that shouldn’t be bookable via your RoomRaccoon Booking Engine yet having them on your add-ons list is very important as you can set the price and VAT on each item.
This makes it much easier for your staff members to add a Coca Cola, beer, or some Pringles to the invoice. No need to look up the price and no chance to forget filling in the VAT percentage.

Upgrade to RaccoonUpsell with add-ons
By upgrading to set up RaccoonUpsell in your account, you will have the chance to generate more revenue from add-ons while adding extra value to your guest’s stay. You can use this tool to offer additional services and products to guests during the online check-in.
Some examples of this you can offer by activating RaccoonUpsell include:
Offer your guests an upgrade to a more luxurious room category.
Offer breakfast again for guests who have booked their stay excluding breakfast.
Offer any optional add-ons at the online check-in, such as bikes, parking spaces or late check-outs.
