It is normal that some payment attempts fail due to various reasons. When it happens, you can know the reason for the failure with the error messages displayed in the payment details section:
All payment errors are general in the payments world. If a specific error is not clear to you, and you do not know how to proceed to assist your guest, you can quickly search for it in Google.
Common error messages
Issuer Suspected Fraud
The bank who issued the card has flagged this transaction as a possible fraud
Payment pending for too long
The payment process took too long to be completed and as a security measure, it times out. This error can be caused, among others, when:
- the shopper initiates the payment but stays for too long in the payment page, without clicking to move to the next step
2. internet connection is poor and the payment page cannot load entirely
3. communication between systems (payment provider <> bank <> card brands) has an issue and/or is taking too long
3D Not Authenticated
The cardholder failed to authenticate the transaction
Refused
The transaction has been refused by the cardholder bank and/or by the card brand (Mastercard, Visa, etc). There can be many different reasons behind the refusal. The cardholder must contact their bank.
Transaction Not Permitted
The card bank issuer does not permit the transaction on this card/account. The booker/guest can use another payment method.
Not enough balance/Not sufficient funds
The card does not have enough balance to pay the requested amount.
Invalid Card Number
The booker/guest has inserted invalid card numbers.
Pin tries exceeded
The booker/guest has entered an incorrect PIN more times than is allowed by the card issuing bank. They should try again or use another payment method.
Security violation
Card bank issuer does not permit the transaction on this card
Incorrect data received
Wrong information was inserted, such as wrong card number, expiration date, CCV code, etc.
Invalid expiry date
Indicated card expiration date is incorrect
Withdrawal count exceeded
- The booker/guest has exceeded their card limit. They can try again after resolving the issue with their bank, or use another payment method.
- The booker/guest has exceeded their card usage frequency limit. They can use another payment method or try again with the same card after they took care of the card limit issue.
Closed account
The card issuing bank is declining transactions due to account closure or a validation issue.
